Hard to say we are better without Curbelo now
Not exactly sure I understand your post, but I think you are saying that some people were thinking we were playing better without him before Xmas and right after.
And now that he is still not playing a lot we are now struggling so that idea isn't accurate?
He is playing 18 mpg this year.
He played 21 mpg last year.
His Offensive Rating last year was 101.8. (average overall really, but I am sure it was higher in last part of year).
His Offensive Rating this year is 85.9. (very bad). It is worse on team by far.
His shooting and more importantly decision making this year has not been good. (we saw that at times last year but he calmed down).
He turns it over at a higher rate than all of the other rotation guys.
I hear reports about only a limited number of practices this year.
I feel for the kid, but he is not ready for this much game play at a high level.
We have had all of the other guys struggling also after Xmas off and on. Some more than others.
Not sure if Curbelo being back and playing what I would call major rotation minutes is correlated, but I do think we do not play the same way
when he is in. The ball gets stuck with him a lot. He is a shot first mentality too often and he is not efficient at all.
It takes away shot attempts and touches from other guys who are better options.
That said- everybody needs to play better and Underwood needs to adjust better in games.
We have some time to turn it around.
And as much as we are inconsistent right now a S16 is within reach and we have not done that since 2005.
Amazingly we have won only 4 tournament games in last 16 years.
