They've been about as hot as anyone in the Country the last month.  But UTEP is the perfect trap game.  Pretty sure Self wanted something like this to happen.  Could be the perfect learning experience for his young team right before the tournament.

They looked damn good vs Baylor. Would not wish to see them in S16 1/4 game really.

Pace picked up second half.  Kansas is dangerous.  They have the look and feel of a top 5 team.  They defend.

It’s been interesting watching this season evolve. It looked like Zaga and Baylor would be 1a 1b all season, but several teams have really rounded into form.  There may be more teams playing at a high level right now than at this time last year.


Really speaks to the difficulty of limited prep time/assimilating new players into the lineup, playing in empty arenas, living in a bubble without much access to family and friends, pauses, quick turnarounds.

It is a weird season. I am officially admitting that I don't what the fck might happen on a given night in the NCAA between two Top 25 teams and that includes Gonzaga who hasn't played anybody really any good since December 19th.

Illini could win the whole thing, or they could get bounced in R32.
Same might be said for about 4 or 5 other teams.

If we guard like we did vs UM, we have a shot.

I’ve studied a lot of Illini game film and I’ve determined that the key to our tourney success is to be seeded into the bracket with the most teams that have the most white guys/light skinned black guys.

I flipped through Loyola-Chicago vs Drake.

Holy fuck, Loyola’s center #25 looks like his name is Stan Krzwzkwziak (his mom calls him Stash) and he’s been patrolling the same beat for 30 years and is getting ready to retire.

Scratch that - he literally looks like a Large Farva.
