Any other definitions are bastardizations brought about because Socialism and Socialist share a whole word with programs, entitlements, government programs and interventions, etc and people can’t keep them straight. I used to be guilty of it myself.

I also think it’s somewhere intentional on the part of actual Socialists to let people assume every well-meant social program is Socialism. It furthers their cause amongst people who don’t know any better and want more safety net or handouts or whatever.  Two or three decades the vast majority of American people wouldn’t be caught dead attaching Socialist to their name, and for good reason.

So many of the things you have called Socialism cannot be Socialism because the means of production remain private. Social programs do not equal Socialism. It’s an important distinction.

Having a military is socialist? Think they have been around well before the 1700s and the 1800s when "socialism" was birthed.

Mass transit systems are heavily subsidized toom As is agriculture. Also energy. And education.

Collective, co-ops, unions, and nonprofits can be examples of socialism at work..

The United States is a Social Democracy, albeit a bit dysfunctional one, despite the frenzied scare tactics of the right wing..

Dunno if I would include the military and law enforcement as socialist since they mainly exist to protect the wealthy.
