Thomas Jefferson wrote the famous line, "I hold it that a little rebellion now and then is a good thing, and as necessary in the political world as storms in the physical," in a letter to James Madison on January 30, 1787

Ultra left groups (some with ties to communist China, Russia, IRGC, etc) riot and burn France, and Tempo says, “This is fine”

“The U.S. Capitol attacked by an angry mob wanting to hang the VP. Skyrocketing debt, massive inflation, high gas prices, endless war, corrupt billionaires and pedos running our government, NATO in shambles, US reviled and considered a laughingstock around the world.”

Custard - “This is fine.”
American conservatives in 2026: if you don’t support a chronically lying, racist, misogynistic, shamelessly grifting, morally bankrupt, mentally ill billionaire; you’re not only deranged, but YOU’re the problem…

Think it's starting to happen. All sorts of ugly breadcrumbs in Google and Amazon's reports. Google especially looks nasty, they've unleashed Gemini and destroyed their cash cow.

The irony will be that, in any given situation the Democratic party as currently constituted would be more effective than the feckless Trumpists, that the AI bubble popping and the stock market taking a huge haircut and us heading into recession will be pointed at the Democrats should they take the House and Senate, even as Trump asserts more control with random executive orders.

The merry go round goes round and round.

To be "fair", while tariffs and the Iran war are very bad, the real issue is going to be a 2008 style reckoning that I struggle to figure out how Government prevents. 2008 was at least in part a function of some deregulation of the financial sector. I'm not sure how in a capitalist economy you stop lenders from lending ridiculous amounts of money to companies that have a neat technology but zero business plan on how to make money and repay the loans.

I do note that the yields on Treasuries are dropping, which I suppose is a good thing except that it's from people selling stocks and corporate bonds and needing a place to hide their money.

Buckle up.

Meta is planning a 90 billion dollar offering. A month ago stock was at 777, now it's at 620. That's a lot of added share dilution to get that 90 billion.

And no Custard, I'm not rooting for it. This is going to be a hot mess with no winners.

Have zero problem if Zuck goes broke. He can drink bleach.

Bear Stearns went broke. Wasn't the bankers at Bear Stearns that drank bleach.

I agree with your sentiment, but for it to impact Zuck means we ded
