ILLINI 78-MSU 64

ILLINI are holding the cards right now....Coen is the only player that we do not match up with. Fears is a player, but he wants to get into the lane to make his shots, drive the ball....well we neutralize that with 6'6'-6'7'-6'9 and bigger on the floor pretty much all the time. ALL of our guys INCLUDING Jake from State Farm Arena can and will keep him in check.

ILLINI should play plenty of matchup zone again, MSU is terrible as far as shooting the ball....Kohler is the wildcard here. He can go outside as well...when Tomi is in not that big a deal, but when Z is in he will be used to draw Z out, and open lanes for Fears/Coen.

I really like the unlimited ceiling of this team this year....multiple double figure scorers, multiple games all year.....MSU has had 6 different leading scorers during the schedule....Fears and Kohler make up 14 of those 23 games playes so far.

The ILLINI have had 7 has leading scorers with 15 of those being Wagler/Stoyakovic. The diffference is we DON'T need one or both of them being our leading scorers, MSU pretty much NEEDS both of those guys to lead them or be 1-2 high scorers.

Good Luck Izzo....have the Kleenex ready, he will be crying the entire game to the REFS.

Mostly concerned about Izzo’s goons hurting someone. Feel like a W in EL (and having Sven’s team at home) would put us in a good spot.

Seems like the game where not having Boswell is going to hurt us the most, more than with Purdue or Nebraska anyway.

I was talking with my lib buddies and mentioned Underwood and the staff's change in coaching.

We now play offense and defense during the same game, not one or the other.
We will actually play some zone
We don't have head scratching rotations on the floor like we've seen in the past
Both Ivisic guys are on the floor together
We're passing the ball instead of hoping somebody can beat their man off the dribble

My biggest concern is the refs influenced by Izzo taking Keaton out of the game like they took KJ out last year.

Refs won’t let Izzo lose three in a row will they? It’s a good game plan on Wagler but it’s giving everyone else plenty of space. Entertaining ball game, feel like we can get anything we want offensively and need to make the extra pass. We had them on their heels then that stupid force by Stoj led to that breakaway reverse oop that brought the crowd and players right back into it.

Hope we come out of the locker room and punch them in the mouth and silence the crowd. If Wagler gets going at all in the second half they don’t have an answer for all our weapons unless we go ice cold as a unit. If he stays iced just keep the ball moving and take good shots.

Worried about fouls down the stretch for sure
