Well, if you recall, Kansas beat Illinois' ass this year pretty handily. So there is that. Kansas did lose to Texas last week. Their QB was out. They are beating up on Gus Malzhan today with the QB still out. They seem to be doing ok despite losing their QB for the last half of last year and I think he has played half the games so far this year. I guess Illinois tired him out.

Uh, no, it isn't. They've been far more competitive despite losing their major weapon for large parts of the last 2 seasons. You do not appear to watch college football, which is fine.  But why would you believe Bielema is doing better so far?

Sure, based on a very small sample size. His overall conference record is 5-15. I remember when ND gave Charlie Weiss a huge 10 year extension.

Kansas played the last half of the season with a backup, but ok (despite the poor November for Illinois).

Kansas did have 9 guys returning on offense this year.

So who is doing the better job? Seems like Leipold is building in year 3, and not relying on his predecessors leftovers, compared to the absolute shit we have seen this year?

They are both in year 3 at the current programs. Guenther Jr could have hired Leipold. We are comparing the current trajectories. Apples to apples.

Are you going to claim Kansas was in better shape than Illinois, even with Lovie, when Leipold was hired by Kansas?

I will say that 3 days ago I considered Flus 100% cooked. I will also say that the energy and enthusiasm for a team that had lost 14 straight was pretty remarkable. I think the narrative that he’d lost the lockerrom might have been premature. He definitely lost the media. If they can get that secondary healthy, beat a beatable Minnesota and Vegas at home, who knows? Then it’s on to the Chargers, who play one score games with everyone.

I felt 3 days ago he was pretty much cooked. Now, not quite as sure. He probably should be, because they can probably do better. But if they play as hard the next few weeks as they did against Washington I could see them creeping back to something near .500, then who knows. I’d inwere betting I’d say he’s gone.
