So we get the winner of Texas/Xavier and then a potential shot at Kentucky next round to finally avenge 1984...or lose by 30 while shooting 6/40 from three or some thing.

Never any easy draws in the middle of the pack of the tournament.  Would be cool to get a rematch against Tennessee though

We win 2 games, we lose the third. We "should" beat Texas/Kentucky. We "could" lose either one as well, we "would" be well served to take the basketball to the rim in either one to win them as well. Tennessee rematch is what I see.

I can't envision a better result for this team. We weren't gonna be a 5. We get a team that has to do a play in game, and we get to play our first two games with a home crowd. No other team is gonna travel to this game like the Illini.

Then we get Kentucky - a program as completely schizo historically as our current team. Hell, I would not be shocked to see that second round be Troy vs Texas/Xavier.  Maybe we suck out and get Troy - granted we probably lose that game, but I'd like our chances.

If somehow we manage to get through all that, the next round is in Indianapolis. We'd probably either get a team we beat in UCLA or a team we almost beat in Tennessee.

I'm not saying we're even going to win our first game - we probably won't - but if you were going to pick a bracket setup - this is pretty much top of the list.

We're probably as likely to beat Tennessee in Indy as Kentucky in Milwaukee.

I guess it's just the monster conferences causing all these conference games in the sweet 16. If our bracket goes to form, both R32 games are SEC vs Big 10

I don’t like having to play a brand name program in the first round as a 6 seed. Other than that, pretty happy. Just have zero confidence in this team or which one is going to show up. Will not be shocked if we made it to the second weekend, would not be shocked if Texas mopped the floor with us either.

Agreed with all that, but I think that the committee would more fairly matched us up in the first round with 10 seed Arkansas. Somehow that job fell to Bill Self. Knowing the committee they had us on the 7 line and just couldn't resist "Kansas/Arkansas" in the first round, and we got a break.

Also, after this thread, 5 bucks says we lose to Xavier.

How did we get Milwaukee and Purdue gets shipped to Rhode Island as a 4? Probably something to do with the timing of playing the TX/Xavier winner and that needing to be a Friday game
