What your missing here is also in connection with the BTT, 29 games, most wins in B1G in last 5 years (helped you there) and Elite Eight Appearance with a NBA draft pick.
THIS year we have potentially 3 NBA draft picks....we have a coach's son for all intent and purposes is an underqualified/overvalued assistant right now, a program that Underwood brought back to life for sure.

This program is one that is turning over at warp speed every year. It cannot be sustained and the only end result is going backwards, we will not exceed the Elite Eight with this kind of outlook/process/ability every year.

The 3 potential NBA picks ( I believe Riley is the least ready to be honest) are all Euro/foreign players, how many years we gonna pull that off?

Instead of picking up 18-21 year old "freshmen," maybe they skew "older" in the portal next year?

I like that for sure, I have wanted the ILLINI to go the Zags route for years, when Lloyd was their lead recruited for them. Now AZ looks like the UN with their players and the Zags just dropped from the top 25. I just don't think it is sustainable for the ILLINI, I hope I am wrong.

This NIL/portal stuff has a bit of hit or miss to it. Try to keep a recruit and they might portal out due to NIL or playing time. Go with portal and you're looking at constant turnover and younger players not sticking around.
