Man this team cannot seem to grasp the easiest of lessons, you have the advantage in rebounding, can score at will around the basket, are athletic and talented enough to get by players at will, and yet the Coach, doesn't seem to understand why the players do what they do once they have a B1G lead.

Whitman has gotten some good coaches across the board, but the allegiance can only go so far, there is NO reason this team is sitting where they are right now, and IF BU doesn't or cannot change the mindset for the rest of this year, WHITMAN must intervene.

We are at a critical point right now with dare I say Rodgers going, DGL, White will probably leave, we will lose our entire starting 5 sans Boswell for next year. We have 2 okay guards committed, we don't have anything after that, the NIL evens us out with a lot of other teams, so thats not looking good, and we cannot even hang a banner correctly for a kid that played all out each night for us.

Where did it all go wrong Whitman/Underwood??

No, I just can't imagine any high profile athlete with NBA dreams coming to a school who can't seem to get most things right, hell the latest one saw a loyal athlete jersey go up in the rafters upside down...makes you want to have faith in the school and all personnel.

Loyalty or not, Whitman has got to look at this season when it is over with a raised eyebrow?

Problem is the buyout will keep him here whether we like it of not. $25 million of so fired without cause?

Not sure what better options we may have, but seems EVERY team that plays us has a player getting a career high, we are floundering even though we have the talent to do better, we are embarrassing as a program (uni-retire) and as a team (MSG blowout), we seem to have no direction, and I would be shocked if the entire off season is not spent watching players jump ship.

DGL will he stay the course, 2 more years of solid play somewhere?
Rodgers has had a long year to listen/watch the warm up for next years possibilities?
KJ gone
Ivisic, probably gone NBA/another school/pair up with his brother somewhere?
White, who knows, doubtful he would start over again?
Boswell stays
Rez stays more than likely.

So next year we have "maybe' Boswell, DGL, Rez, Rodgers as our core, with who else...a couple of undersized freshman guards?

C'mon have to at least have that conversation Whitman right.....

Pretty crazy that 6 weeks ago Underwood was looking like a legit top 8 HC and now it’s not crazy to entertain the idea of replacing him. How quickly the worm turns. You only replace him if you’re willing to go all in on someone, but it’s gonna be back to square one next year. These kids aren’t coming back (the really good ones anyway).

3 Scenario's I think Whitman may find himself in right now with Underwood:

A) Underwood is given a sit down and understands the next season is critical to long term success here (his).
B) Underwood is given ultimatum to staff change, starting with his own son (balks and looks for another place?)
C) Whitman is shopping for a replacement, buyout is extensive (upwards to 25 million?)

Solution if another pay raise comes into play? Underwood is given right to look elsewhere.

Will Wade buyout is $1 million in 2025. Wade would be a stud at ILLINOIS, he has recruited (Top 100 players-Top 5 National class at LSU) and well (yes there were investigations-but that $hi^ is legal now. LOL, he can coach, he is young 42, and he could make the ILLINI into a long term gig on a National Stage. He is also known for being a players coach, a fans coach, and a highly successful x-o guy.

Best thing about hiring Will Wade other than what is above....his full name is Frank Williams Wade. Let BU go, pay the buyout, annual complete roster turnover WILL never be a good thing, and quite frankly if anyone can do it, it is Underwood. For a program the level of ILLINOIS, this should not be the norm, even in todays age of $$$$. It is not sustainable, it is not wise, and it will never be productive to the level this fanbase wants.

HIRE WILL WADE Whitman. I firmly believe he has the record/age/recruiting chops and has WON at every stop he has been at. Chattanooga/VCU/LSU/McNeese State.

Kind of wish spark was here just to rebuff the insanity of making a coaching change after winning BTT, 29 games, and an EE appearance last year all while our AA was facing bogus rape charges the last 2/3 of the season.
