Kurt Warner on Caleb

A lot interesting stuff. I’ll try to encapsulate as best I can:

https://youtu.be/yuo3XMwwN70?si=41I5BMelErXUPfP0

Caleb stayed locked on to #1 too long. League has gone much more “pure progression” which he doesn’t like. Slows things down. Prefers to focus on smaller keys and react. Says Houston did not ask Stroud to read full progressions.

Says he’s not convinced Caleb is athletic enough (at this level) to make the plays he consistently made in college. When asked by PM if he is “encouraged,” Warner’s response was a hesitant “Let’s just say I’ve seen some good things.” Also made sure to point out, it’s only one game. Too early to tell.

Speigel was smart to follow up on the difference between pure progression and reading the defense as a whole. Interesting stuff. Reminded me of when I heard Tom Brady say he knew where he was going before the snap. Warner differentiates from that a little, but similar thought processes.

"He commented more than once that, 'You know, Hitler did some good things, too,'" Kelly recalled to The Times. Kelly said he would usually quash the conversation by saying "nothing (Hitler) did, you could argue, was good," but that Trump would occasionally bring up the topic again.

Also said the QB shouldn’t be worrying about all of the protections but moreso certain guys.

Custard, shouldn't this be in the Caleb Williams Failed Ernest Whitlock thread?

Yeah it kinda feels like he made a “failed me” post but disguised it with this title to make it seem like it needed its own thread. Tsk tsk.

Those troll bait threads don’t deserve the recognition. This is actual analysis from one of the best to ever do it. Nothing here is “my thoughts.”

And I’m firmly in the “it’s one game” camp. I think Caleb is going to be very good, if not great.

And I’ll go one further. I’ve said lots of times the case to move on from Fields can be justified. Probably for the first time, I’ll say drafting Caleb was probably the right move. Though again, I think both avenues could have paid good dividends.

As for my own analysis, as I said many times for Justin; Caleb wasn’t good, but then neither were many around him, either. I think he was a bit too amped up. I expect it to get a lot better, and sooner rather than later.

We are well aware of that.

We are well aware of that.

You obviously weren’t, as you tried to paint this as a “Caleb failed Wayne Whitlock” thread.

It’s objective analysis from one of the best to ever do it. I thought he had some interesting things to say.

I haven’t watched or listened to any of this yet. I have no idea what Tim Jenkins says. Just adding it for discussion/entertainment purposes.

In all seriousness, Caleb played like a rookie that wasn’t used to the speed of the game yet. That throw he missed to Allen was inexcusable. That particular throw is completed 100 times out of 100 in practice and warm ups. Should be muscle memory. He missed it, and it sucked.

The line is terrible. They have to do something about that. What, I don’t know. But 65 being an absolute dogshit blocker in the middle is not ok. And teams will absolutely exploit that shit.

OLine must be a priority to improve. Soon.

So, just like I suspected, Tempo is going to mine the internets for negative shit on Williams and bring it every week. Can’t wait.

Gonna be another long fucking season.
