Maga trying hard to smear the guy before Americans get to him. I suspect it'll backfire due to the hypocrisy. Besides he comes across likeable.

There's an old saying in politics, define your opponents before they define themselves.  That’s a key reason Blagojevich was elected Governor for a second term.  His early political ads against Judy Baar Topinka were brutal.  One featured Topinka dancing the polka with George Ryan, linking her to the Operation Safe Road scandal.  Ouch!

Doubt this is a hill to die on, Tempo.

Both sides do it. Republicans are even worse. What hill is there to die on?

Before he was elected to his first term, I saw Blago try to tie his opponent (Tim Ryan I think it was) to some incident in which a family of 6 died in a car crash (something to do with Secretary of State?) during a debate. And I thought to myself “this cocksucker is no good.” Man, was I right.

There was a coordinated smear campaign launched against JD Vance almost immediately after the announcement. Someone on Twitter made something up about him fucking a couch, which went viral, and is now being referenced at rallies by no other than Tim Walz himself. It’s funny af, but please let’s not try and say one party is taking the high road. Same party whose friendly media has spent countless thousands or millions of hours dissecting and broadcasting every single negative—real and imagined—about Donald Trump.

You mean George Ryan and the commercial truck drivers license scandal that came to light when that family was killed and then Ryan got convicted? That incident? The one where Blago was actually right?

I think Tempo means Jim Ryan, who was attorney general when he ran against Blagojevich the first time.  He's right that Blago linked Jim Ryan with the George Ryan scandal.  From Wikipedia:

"In the general election, Blagojevich defeated Republican Illinois Attorney General Jim Ryan.[20] Blagojevich's campaign was helped by his well-connected father-in-law, Chicago alderman Richard Mell.[20] Ethics scandals had plagued the previous administration of Republican George Ryan (no relation to Jim Ryan), and Blagojevich's campaign focused on the theme of "ending business as usual" in state government.[30] Polls prior to the election found that many Illinois voters were confused about the names of George Ryan and Jim Ryan, a fact which Blagojevich used to his advantage.[31] He asked, "How can you replace one Ryan with another Ryan and call that change? You want change? Elect a guy named Blagojevich."[31] Blagojevich won with 52% of the vote over Jim Ryan.[31] On election night, he said: "Tonight, ladies and gentlemen, Illinois has voted for change."[30]"

Ok. That makes sense. Very good. Kudos to Alum for clearing this up. Continue on, Tempo!

I shouldn’t admit this, but I met Blago twice; once when he was serving in the Illinois General Assembly and another time at a statehouse press conference.   You could tell that there wasn’t much there.  He obviously went further than he should have in politics, thanks to his father-in-law Dick Mell.

Can someone please show me where I said Democrats don’t do it as well? But there are a number of Republicans in Congress and TV who’ve made entire careers of slandering Democrats. Democrats do it, Republicans have mastered it.

The material writes itself with JD Vance. Bet Trump was regretting that decision within 12 hours.

So wait, you’re gonna cry about unfair coverage of Donald Trump? The dude who told something like 17,000 lies in one term as POTUS? Trump has muddied the waters on his own. The dude a virtual dog and pony show on Covid daily during the pandemic.

I’d say attacking Walz on his military career is 14x worse than accusing someone of fucking a couch.
