Newsom is a very smart guy and knows good policy. Your critique on his image is well founded, I mean he was in this photo...

He's scripting a new look. Not dying his hair, and letting it grow scruffy, trading in his suits to wear a fleece with the Bear Republic Logo.

Looks like Gavin has taken a page out of Bruce Rauner’s playbook. Does he ride a chopper motorcycle or compete in monster truck shows?
Seriously though, I’m troubled by the lack of damage control since the debate. Biden should be making more public appearances (late night talk shows, ribbon-cutting events, sit-down interviews, etc.). He’s got to put himself out there; communicating his agenda and explaining why his opponent is a dangerous lunatic. Instead, the Biden campaign is sliding into bunker mentality mode and hoping the storm blows itself out. Fairly or unfairly, it seems to confirm that he’s really slipped.
As to a potential replacement, the thought of a smug-looking California politician pushing Harris aside is risky. It won’t play well among women and African Americans, who are an important part of the Democratic Party. And this problem is further exacerbated by the fact that the Democrats have a multitude of factions, including Midwest organized labor, educated urbanites, and Church-affiliated southern Black voters. By contrast, the Republicans have a singular base, which has rallied around Trump.
I’m ready to move on from Biden. But it will require a coalition ticket that appeals to the various party factions. We also need someone that has the potential to inherit Biden's money and campaign structure.
Here’s my proposed ticket: Harris-Kelly. Other options would be Harris-Shapiro and Harris-Cooper.
