Eyeballing it, Stafford went 4-12 witht 20 TDs and 17 INTs and a 79 passer rating about 38 starts in. Year 4 of their rebuild. So, am I supposed to be impressed?
Not sure if you're being dishonest on purpose here, read something wrong, or what.
Through 38 starts Matt Stafford was 17-21. He'd thrown for 10,562 yards, 71 TD and 45 INT on 60.8% completion.
His third year in the league he went 10-6, threw for 5023 yards, 41 TD and 16 INT.
Through 38 starts Fields is 10-28. He's thrown for 6674 yards, 40 TD and 30 INT on 60.3% completion.
The first of these guys - the one who won a Super Bowl - you are ripping on for being a bust of some kind (??), and the second you insist we need to keep because if you spend the first pick on a QB you might get the first guy.
By every single passing statistic - plus W/L record, you still need to let me know whether that counts or not - Matt Stafford was notably better than Fields through the same number of starts. In fact, by both wins and passing TDs, Stafford had more
just in year three than Fields has
through three years, along with ~75% of the passing yards.
