You’re right though when his third year he threw for 5000 yards and 40 touchdowns his value was probably pretty good.  He also went 10-6, if that counts.

11 years certainly carries more weight than 3, one which was a complete tear down. Stafford had Magatron. Fields had Dante Pettis and N’Keal Harry.

You can limit it to whatever subset of games you want.  First three seasons, first 38 starts - whatever you need.  Stats, drops, win/loss records - whatever you want.  Just be consistent and quit applying wildly different criteria to different people.

So you’re just gonna keep repeating this instead of show the stats and W/L for Stafford’s first three years or first 38 starts I suppose?

Limit the data set however you need to, just apply the same standards to the two players.

Could have gotten the ball to his best receiver who was wide open underneath and might have still scored. He got impatient and made the wrong decision.

Stafford was like a 5 year veteran 38 starts in. He missed a lot of starts year 1-2. Not apples to apples.

I’m going to go out on a limb and say that anyone making the argument that it’s too risky to move Fields and take a QB at 1 because what if he’s Matt Stafford can be safely mocked.

Do WHATEVER YOU NEED TO to the data.  Years, starts, snaps, pass attempts - literally whatever you need to.  Just stop with the thing where you apply a standard to other guys that you insist is completely unfair to apply to Justin Fields.

Eyeballing it, Stafford went 4-12 witht 20 TDs and 17 INTs and a 79 passer rating about 38 starts in. Year 4 of their rebuild. So, am I supposed to be impressed?

And followed that up with 4-12 and 20 TDs on an insane 727 pass attempts. Is that a record?
