And coincidentally, without a great WR corps, Mahomes had easily his worst year; a year in which he was merely “good.”

In his worst year as a pro, with his pass catchers having the highest drop rate in the NFL and an OC you have personally blamed for Fields' play in the past, Mahomes only threw for 1500 extra yards, 10 extra touchdowns, and a passer rating 6+ points better than the best Fields has ever been in any of those stats.  He was the NFL's yardage leader, before he sat out the last regular season game because his team had already locked up a division title.  Then he went on the road to Buffalo and had what would be one of the best games of Justin Fields' career to make his 6th straight AFC championship game.

Why you insist on comparing these two dudes, I have absolutely no fucking idea.

I wasn’t comparing Fields to Mahomes. I was comparing their situations. One has had one far more favorable.

Mahomes is the best ever. With the only possible exception being Brady. But yeah, other than that, Fields and him are the same…

You've pretty consistently tried to bring up Mahomes to justify your stance on Fields all season.  It's ridiculously stupid.

Even with pass catchers more likely to drop a ball and an OC who was previously blamed for Fields' own play, Mahomes' "worst" season is head and shoulders better than Fields' best.

It'd be hard to watch the playoffs so far and think, "well QB obviously isn't that big a thing, we can just figure that out later" - but somehow you've managed to do it.

Andy Reid runs that offense, stop kidding yourself.

Well yeah, Mahomes is fantastic.  That's why I don't get why you have continually brought him up to compare to Fields, who is mediocre.

I’m just showing how one guy has pretty much had the best off all worlds’ and how another has had just about the worst of all worlds. The fact that some people think JF is still worth a 1st round pick is a near miracle. And no, he’s not perfect, and probably never will be.

Just recently you were ragging him here for overseeing Mahomes' "worst year as a pro", though.

It's almost like you totally change your standards based on the conclusion you're trying to arrive at, huh?

Situation matters IMO, and Fields’ has been abysmal.

He doesn't need to be perfect.

He isn't even average thusfar, and you've CONSISTENTLY defended that and blamed it on anyone else anywhere in his vicinity.

Eh, that’s just having some fun at Nagy’s expense. But it is funny that the Chiefs are having their worst offensive year with Nagy as OC. As long as Andy Reid is on the sidelines, that is his offense.

I think overall he’s been “average.” There likely aren’t 16 or more quarterbacks who I think are better. I think he still can get way better with talent and coaching upgrades. You disagree. That’s fine.

If the Bears exercise his option, spend their top picks on pass catchers, get Waldron - and he’s still the same guy he’s been… how will you react?

Can you at least commit to - if the Bears do everything you’ve said they should do, and Fields is still the same mediocre QB he’s been - not making the excuses for him next year?

I’ll be disappointed. And likely look to move on.

I don’t like to deal with absolutes especially regarding things that haven’t happened yet, but things would have to go incredibly sideways for me to continue making excuses for Fields should they make the necessary upgrades. I anticipate that I’ll be much less excuse friendly, but I’d also like to see what other moves they make.
