You wanted me to say something like this previously. Here's what I will say:
I couldn't find a way to personally justify keeping him. That isn't because I think he's absolutely awful necessarily - it's because the Bears have a once in a generation opportunity to draft a top QB, on a cheap deal for longer, and Fields hasn't shown me enough as a passer for me to justify passing on that opportunity.
He is absolutely an electric athlete who can make plays with his legs, and in that way I see why someone might say "give him another year" - but it's far more important to me, especially in a situation where after next year you're going to end up paying a LOT to keep him, that he can reliably move the ball with his arm. If he can't really prove that he can do that with consistency in these last few weeks, I don't see a way to justify passing on the rare opportunity the Bears have at the top of the upcoming draft.
