I guess last years’ football team was discussion worthy to be fair. But me personally, I haven’t paid much attention to Illini football since the early Beckman era. There wasn’t much to get excited about for years.

How do you figure? Illini sports have blown massively for a decade to fifteen years. At least we’ve had fun things to argue about like Khalil Mack, Matt Nagy, Mitchell Trubisky, and Justin Fields.

Way better than talking about Mike Tisdale, Coleman Hawkins, Tim Beckman, and whoever that midmajor coach was that took his place.

Illinois basketball had a solid one and half year run until they faceplanted against Loyola. Illini football has had one good year. A year so good I can’t  even remember what (January) bowl game they were in last year.

The Bears had a historically good/fun defense in 2018 before getting done in by offensive incompetence.

Over the last 15 years or so, at worst, I’d call Bears/Illini a wash.
