What if he wins the b1g though 🤔

Custard will remain ecstatic and will taunt Tempo with that fact.

Lol. If this guy blows up too they need to just fire this whole fucking staff for impersonating as basketball coaches.

Clark looked like total ass in that Twitter clip. He will be a B version of Mark Smith.
Slow as fuck.

If this guy blows up too? Podz is the only guy that’s happened too. I think this post blows your theory out of the water…

Yeah this thing of getting fired for not getting to the second weekend is silly. Do we want more? Of course. But we came from a coach who got five years or whatever and never made the tourney outside of what he inherited from another fired coach. After the first couple of rebuilding years Illinois has been a favored seed in 3/4 tourneys had 2020 had a tournament and we look to be in a position to be a favored seed again this year. Like it or not, that’s pretty decent for Illinois basketball. You keep finishing near the top of the B1G and making the tournament as a favored seed, odds are you’re going to break through at some point. After 15 years of wandering the desert this fan base isn’t going to be chomping at the bit to get rid of a guy who does the things I just discussed until it’s abundantly clear he can’t do anything more.

I really hope we have a good year and we see the second weekend this year. It has been nearly 20 years.
It is not silly to think he needs to get there. This is his 7th year. We will see what happens.

It's ok to lose. Disappointing but it happens. Ask Tx and UCLA from last year, or Ks this year. Just look competent when you do it.

Some people would say that is what happens when you rebuild from a tank and 3 to 5 more recruiting classes are needed before you can judge the head coach and GM.

The reality is this, is the BU tournament lack of success maddening yes. Have we has a fan base lived through much better/much worse, yes. However, regardless of what happens this year, BU will not go anywhere unless on his own accord. He will be losing 4-5 seniors most of which will get massive playing time and possibly the entire starting 5 if things don't go well with Rodgers this year. He/We will lose our Top 2-3 players at every position (less) on this team.

He will be rebuilding yet again, and without tourney success, less likely to get big name transfers. Yes we will have another solid-good class coming in, but with only that and some mid major type names/transfers, then we will be going backwards again next year regardless of the coach...that Coach will be BU.

Next year could very well end up being a shit show for us record wise.

Best Case Scenario for Team:

Rodgers - Could see jumping ship if things go bad this year
Goode - Could see being just another Asst Coach for us, seems to have lost it?
DGL - Loads of talent, BU needs to really focus on getting him better this year imo.
Dainja - He will stay and we will go back to an inside plodding offense next year.
Hansberry - Who knows right now
Harris - Really needs to put up like 1000 shots a day to be more than a backup energy guy
Johnson - We will be lucky to have him more than 1 year
Jakstys - Tisdale early, maybe late?
Butler - Unknown, probably start for us.????

That is a bottom of the B1G roster with very little to entice anyone else to come aboard via transfer or high level HS talent...BU isn't going anywhere with that on the horizen, Whitman will have no other options regardless of our finish this year.

He does need to advance in the tourney, and this roster looks like the best chance to do that given the talent we’ll lose after this season. But making the tournament every year is a place we haven’t been in a long time. And BU typically does ok in the portal. Guerrier, TSJ, Domask are all transfer starters and probably three of our four best players overall. Dainja and Harmon are rotation transfers. We’ll be ok. We are long overdue for a surprise success of a season.

A surprise successful end of the season would be pleasant.

I’d settle for a 2022-23 UConn type of season

It’s pretty amazing that we’ve never really had any sort of Cinderella run. Not even one.
"He commented more than once that, 'You know, Hitler did some good things, too,'" Kelly recalled to The Times. Kelly said he would usually quash the conversation by saying "nothing (Hitler) did, you could argue, was good," but that Trump would occasionally bring up the topic again.

To do that you have to beat a higher seed, which the Illini have never done. (I think I have that right.)
