Total 180 here in the second half. That’s why these refs take so much shit. Literally two different definitions on what is and isn’t a foul from one half to the next.
Because FOX News told me so…

It’s a slippery slope with allowing physical play. When games get super physical I think it makes the officials’ jobs even harder, which is the last thing they need.

I personally like seeing the higher scoring games the last several years. Part of that is more possessions due to shot clock changes and other rules, but it’s also partially due to cracking down on some of the rugby style shit that had come to be the norm in certain leagues. The B1G was notoriously slow to adapt but is slowly coming around. Consistency is still a huge issue obviously, and no one really seems to know how to officiate Edey.

It is always enlightening to me to watch a game in person near floor level. Refs have thankless jobs. The game of basketball is so fast and physical as hell and the court is way smaller than it looks on TV with the size and length.
If they called everything that could be a foul nobody would make it through a game.

Generally they do a good job. I have ref friends and one gets assigned to D1 games sometimes. He just texted me about coaches in recent games going over the top and having to T
them up.

A job I would not do in a million years.

And yeah, the B12 is a war out there. Houston and ISU play some serious D.

They catch a lot of shit, and many times rightfully so because they have such an impact on the outcome, but it is a bitch of a job and I’m not sure they are put in the best position to succeed.

They can't win no matter what.

Also they get rated on their performance every game. A lot of pressure.

Very likely our games against Iowa will be a shootout. Could see both teams going into the 80s and even 90s.

Their top 6 guys in the rotation can all score the ball on a given night. McCaffery off the bench is out of his funk. Sandford is a bucket.
Perkins can get hot as we know. Krikke is clever scorer and has nice midrnage. Freeman dunks a lot and has an uncanny nose for the ball and they find him.
Dix is a decent shooter. They move the ball and run a clever offense with a lot of cutting and screens and rescreens, and of course love to run like hell.

They also press a little bit and play some zone to try and cover up their general disinterest on defense. They have been playing hard lately.
I think if they have 9 wins when playing us at home in Iowa City it will be very tough to get out of town with a W.

Owen Freeman from Illinois would’ve been a nice get for us in recruiting, but I don’t think we went after him at all really.

Really that kid has developed beyond what anyone would have ever thought at this point.
I watched him several times in HS here locally. Looked like he had potential down the road.
Sort of like one of those Wisconsin guys who becomes pretty good by their senior year.

Was like #182 nationally but did have several high D1 offers per 247. He has been really good for them.
