Iowa had 33 assists tonight.
The freshman backup PG had 12 highlight reel assists.

They might be a problem on some nights if they can stop anyone.

#12 Creighton blows a 14 point lead at home to Nova. Golden opportunity to jump in the polls again if we take care of Miznoz.

UCONN goes down, #5 will be dropping.

There are no elite teams this year. Just like last year. It's becoming more uncommon for teams, generally speaking, to have good chemistry in the transfer portal era.

I really think that’s where the experience of our Illini team I think will pay off in the tournament…

Purdue is pretty elite

If they can get the ball up the court and hit enough from outside they could be a final four team.  They look better with Jones and an improved Smith.
Don't see how they do not win BT comfortably but that is why they play the games.

They’ve already beaten four top 10 teams in Tennessee, Gonzaga, Arizona, and Marquette. Gonzaga has fallen off some, but still. And a better-than-their-record Alabama team. That’s nuts for this early in the season. Painter still has to prove he can win in March, of course. Pretty hard to think a team that spent a lot of last year ranked #1 and brought pretty much everyone back (along with a couple good new faces) isn’t elite. Pains me to say it as I work with a lot of Purdue grads.

Agree they are playing at a very confident and high level. They are making threes at high percentage which was a problem last year.
Jones gives them an experienced athletic guard to help handle being pressured.
They will go as far as the guard play as Edey is a constant and a force that nobody will really do much but hopefully slow down.

They may be best team in country. It took a ridiculous game by Buie and NU to beat them on the road.
They have four road games in BT where they could stumble but are actually projected on paper to win out in KenPom which is crazy. Torvik has the same.
They then do both give them three losses more due to luck, weird games, an injury, or an off night, etc.

There is always a night or two where a team goes 5-22 from three or something. They went 9-29 tonight which is what they did last year and that made them vulnerable.
If other team is hot they could lose a game like that. They were 5-19 in the NU loss. NU was 10-20. They had 17 TOs (and Smith had 6) while NU only had 3.
It will take a confluence of shit for them to lose games in BT and in NCAA.
It happens.

We are actually a tough match up for them in that we are playing good position and help D, and we contest the three and can gang rebound on a good night. We do not force many TOs though which you almost have to do to beat them. And of course hit shots.
