What were they reviewing then on the monitor?? They review all of the time if it was a two or a three. It was under 2 minutes.
Wow.
Here is story on ESPN. https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/39030328/emanuel-miller-lifts-tcu-stepping-bounds-ahead-winner
Replay showed Miller stepped on the right sideline with his left foot just before releasing the ball. Though officials reviewed the play, because they missed Miller stepping out-of-bounds in real time, by rule they couldn't overturn the shot.
It had to be a rules issue as fast as the wrong, in fairness, result was reached. They couldn't review the oob so the 3 that shouldn't have counted won the game for TCU.
"Instant Replay / Out of Bounds, Goaltending and Basket Interference - Per Rule
11-2.1.e.1 and .3, Instant Replay is permitted to review out of bounds plays and
basket interference plays under certain situations:
1. Out of bounds
a. Only permitted in the last two minutes of the second period or in
the last two minutes of any overtime period;
b.
Review is only permitted when an out of bounds call has been
made;Let me get this straight. The challenge could have been done in the last 2 minutes of the game but only if the TCU player was ruled oob. If the player is called oob and the shot goes in, Georgetown can challenge.
If the player is called oob, and replay will show he wasn't, and the shot goes in but is overruled due to the oob call on the floor then TCU can challenge and the shot will count.
The rule will get changed.
